The Cross Drop-in Centre

Funding the Drop-in - A Special Appeal

The Drop-in is funded by personal donations and support for the churches in Killyleagh. This enables us to employ a centre manager who co-ordinates our activities, everyone else involved in the centre is a volunteer!

We have recently developed a 3 year Vision and Strategy for the Drop-in Centre to make our work more effective and to give ourselves a vision of what the Drop-in can be, our 'guiding light'. As a business commenter once said "Vision without action is merely a dream; action without vision is a waste of time. Vision with action can change the world!". We aren't looking to change the world just our little corner of it in Killyleagh

Over the next three years we aim to extend the programme of services offered at the Drop-in by employing a second youth worker. To fund this we are aiming to increase our number of regular sponsors. We are trying to find 20 sponsors who will sponsor the Drop-in centre for £20 per month. However, any sponsorship is welcome and if you can help please call Carol, the centre manager, 077 1371 0135

The Cross Drop-in Centre

The Cross Drop-in Centre was opened in 1998, by local people working along with Youth for Christ Northern Ireland.  The aim of the Centre is to give the young people of Killyleagh a safe and welcoming environment where they can meet up with their friends and form relationships with adult Christian volunteers.

The ethos of “The Cross” is a Christian one, in line with the mission statement of Youth for Christ Northern Ireland “To participate in the body of Christ in the responsible evangelism of youth, presenting them with the person, work and teachings of Christ and discipling them into the local church”.

The Centre is financed largely by the support of the local church, individuals on a monthly donor basis or one of gift donations and some grant aid funding.

Funding is a constant challenge for the ministry of Killyleagh Youth for Christ as we are an independent charity affiliated to Youth for Christ Northern Ireland, leaving the voluntary committee, board solely responsible for raising all funds and overall control of the centre.

The centre board is represented by local people who attend local churches.  The centre volunteers are also Christians who are passionate about spiritual transformation in young people.
