Magnus Barelegs Viking Festival 2006 - Family Activities

Fun for all the family

The Killyleagh Social Partnership in association with the Magnus Viking Association are now running the Magnus Viking Festival, at Delamont Country Park on Saturday 13th May and at Killyleagh on Sunday 14th May.  Both events are aimed at entertainment for the family and as such it is hoped that you will come along with your child/children on both days.

Saturday 13th May

The activities at Delamont Country Park start this year at 12pm and will include the following

Archery ( With spectator participation )	Viking Treasure Hunt ( Prizes for children )
Viking Wife Carrying Race	Viking Wrestling
Fire & Rescue Exhibition	Falconry Display
Barney & Baby Bop	Flo Jo
Children’s Carousel	Face Painting

There will also be food vendors for you to purchase something to eat and Ice Cream to cool you down.  The Viking invasion this year will include a spectacular battle and invasion of the Irish Village.  The activities and re enactment have been increased this year, with greater emphasis on family entertainment and participation.

Sunday 14th May

We have many more teams entering this year with visitors not only from Norway but also as far away as Poland taking part. The Parade this year starts at 1.30pm from the Old High School site, always a spectacular event will again be marching through the town. However, as we intend to make it more family orientated, we would like as many children with parents to accompany the rowers with their parent/parents in the parade.

We cordially invite you to join us in this spectacular parade and encourage the children to dress up in Viking Costume.

On the Sunday we have lots of different activities for all the family.
