Your Opportunity to Recycle at Home
Here are the details of what to put in your new recycling containers for Down District Council.
Dry Recyclables (Blue Bin)
YES!
- Paper Magazines
- Light Card e.g. cereal boxes
- Aluminum Cans (drinks cans)
- Steel Cans (food cans)
- Plastic Bottles e.g. milk, fizzy drinks, shampoo bottles
Remember: WASH AND SQUASH!
NO!
- Envelopes (too much glue can interfere with the recycling process)
- Cardboard Boxes (bring to Household Recycling Centres)
- Glass (Bring-to-sites)
- Food Waste
- Plastic bags
Compost Bin (Brown Bin)
YES!
- Grass cuttings and Leaves
- Hedge Cuttings
- Weeds and compost
- Cut flowers
- Twigs and small branches, and any untreated wood
NO!
- Sorry, currently No Foodstuffs
- No Plastic bags of any kind
- No cat or dog waste
- No heavy soil, garden rubble, flower pots and any other waste.
The Council can supply a home composting container for the subsidised cost of £10. If you require a home composting container, or for any other enquiries please:
