As part of Strangford Lough Race Week the Killyleagh Social Partnership organised street races in Killyleagh to celebrate Bastille day.   On 14th of July the streets of Killyleagh was transformed as the town became one of the first areas in Country Down to celebrate this very French occasion.

Now Killyleagh has once again been inspired and, to coincide with the Strangford Lough Race Week, will celebrate the 216th anniversary of the Storming of the Bastille with an evening of wild French exuberance (tempered with Ulster sobriety) on 14th July 2005. The Killyleagh Bastille Race Day will be a unique event.

Vive la France, Vive Killyleagh, Vive le différence!”

During the day there was an exhibition of art at the Bridge Centre and Canoeing and Kayaking sessions at the Seaboard centre as well as a full calendar of racing on the Lough.
